Introducing..SAMHAIN, our pumpkin centrepiece for your Autumn table - not just for Halloween, although we can also carve a scary face if you like!
Samhain is the Celtic festival held on 1st November, marking the end of the harvest season.
In Ireland and Scotland, the Feile na Marbh, the festival of the dead took place on Samhain, and this is still observed today in the modern guise of Halloween.
It seems to this humble florist that the whole pumpkin -carving mania is quite a recent thing on these shores. Growing up in the far North of Scotland, all we had to light our way when guising round the neighbour's doors was a hollowed out turnip lantern (do you know how tricky it is to do that without slicing your thumb off!!) - and I'll never forget the smell of candle-scorched turnip on a frosty night.
So, pumpkin carving by comparison is as easy as pie, and we'll create this lil beaut just for you stuffed with all that is good in Autumn foliage, flaming roses and blood-red berries. Order online now at the discounted rate of £28.00, we can deliver all over Glasgow. You can also check out the rest of our Autumn range, including some special offers.
