Floral Haven's Hot Pick for October

Introducing..SAMHAIN, our pumpkin centrepiece for your Autumn table - not just for Halloween, although we can also carve a scary face if you like!
Samhain is the Celtic festival held on 1st November, marking the end of the harvest season.
In Ireland and Scotland, the Feile na Marbh, the festival of the dead took place on Samhain, and this is still observed today in the modern guise of Halloween.
It seems to this humble florist that the whole pumpkin -carving mania is quite a recent thing on these shores. Growing up in the far North of Scotland, all we had to light our way when guising round the neighbour's doors was a hollowed out turnip lantern (do you know how tricky it is to do that without slicing your thumb off!!) - and I'll never forget the smell of candle-scorched turnip on a frosty night.
So, pumpkin carving by comparison is as easy as pie, and we'll create this lil beaut just for you stuffed with all that is good in Autumn foliage, flaming roses and blood-red berries. Order online now at the discounted rate of £28.00, we can deliver all over Glasgow. You can also check out the rest of our Autumn range, including some special offers.

Wedding Show, SECC

On 20th and 21st September 2008, Floral Haven exhibited alongside other specialists in the wedding industry at the S.E.C.C. in Glasgow. Our stand caught the attention of many brides and their Mums, who especially loved our handmade sparkly wire cuff bracelets.

We love doing the Wedding Show, as we get to chat to brides from all over Scotland (and we get a day away from the shop, AND there's an endless supply of chocolate fountains, shortbread and tablet to pinch from other stands!)
This year, we designed our stand in a Spring/Summer beach wedding theme. (Although it's a brave or foolhardy bride who plans a beach wedding in Scotland - veil flying on the wind; numb blue fingers, heels sinking in the sand - and that's mid June!!)

Many brides loved our scented white hyacinth centrepiece cubes and perfumed narcissus displays with fresh cut limes - so much so, we're already planning versions of these for our Spring Collection (but at this point Christmas comes first!)

We used lots of natural, driftwood-type textures, coco fibre and shells, and kept our flower palette to fresh, Summery whites and greens with....peach! There you go - our top trend tip for next Summer's weddings - Peach is the new Pink! Teamed with shades of soft green such as double lisianthus, peachy roses will rule next Summer - just forget about the gyp and peach satin bridesmaids dresses or you'll be in a 70's timewarp!

Our dramatic piece of Ghostwood borrowed from the shop made a useful and decorative framework on which to display our designer bouquets.
